Only spilled some truths here! And that's funny, because that's exactly how I see you, and I believe many people on this platform would agree with me! If that doesn't make you simultaneously a good person and a good writer - who has the ability to be be so honest about himself and pass on so much knowledge to others - then I don't know what does. You're more than welcome! ☺️
I just loved reading this, João! I feel like I always learn so much with you — it's like you're this wise, calm, balanced figure in our lives (I'm talking plural because I'm sure other people here feel the same) who has so much to pass on, but always does so with such generosity and kindness. We also share a deep love for our king Saramago!
And the fact that you've written a poetry book just for Sofia? You just won the prize, that's the loveliest thing ever and you have every right to be proud of it. I'm sure it's amazing — but I'm also sure that won't be only book you've end up writing; we will still see your name in the shelves of libraries one day.
Thanks Raquel, once again, for this - I think I'm addicted to this space you created here at 'Shelfie'.
You also made my day Carolina. I'm really speechless after your comment and can only be grateful that what I write resonates with you. I don't consider myself a wise, calm and balanced figure, on the contrary. But it's interesting that you see me like that through my words. I write to organize my mind and thoughts, so you get to see a more curated version of me. But it's me, nonetheless. I really thank you for your kind words 🫂
You just made my day. Thanks for taking the time to say that. And I’m sure João will love to know what you (we) think of him. And it’s so cool to see Saramago is such a hit among the people I interviewed, since Rafaela also loves him.
Saramago is regarded as a difficult reading and scares a lot of readera away. Unfortunately I think the Portuguese school curriculum focuses too much on the less entertaining book he has wrote. But, like you said, it's really cool to see him a a favorite among some people, mainly young folks.

No -- thank you! I am so happy to have found you here at Substack. You are one of a kind, Raquel. And I hope we made João happy too! :)
I really enjoyed being interviewed for this newsletter! Thanks Raquel!
