Shelfie: Where Readers Bare All (Emotionally, Mostly)
A little shelf-exposure never hurt anyone.

Dear reader,
Let’s be honest: we all judge people by their bookshelves. I do it. You do it. Your pet probably does it too. That annotated copy of Jane Eyre, the neon tabbed rom-coms, the suspicious absence of bookmarks — it’s all telling. Your bookish ways say more about you than any dating profile ever could.
So I thought… what if we leaned in? What if we embraced the mess, the passion, the 3 a.m. “just one more chapter” lies, the reading slumps, the fanfic archives, the triple-stacked IKEA shelves, the “to-be-read” piles that might outlive us?
That’s why I created Shelfie — a new feature inside Binge-Read where people (common or famous, introverts or loud booktokkers, always readers and sometimes even writers) open up about their bookish selves.
Each Shelfie is a rom-com in four acts (minus the third-act breakup, yay!). No small talk, no “so what do you do?”. Just straight to the good stuff:
THE MEET-CUTE
A short, snappy bio… penned by yours truly. Think of it as literary matchmaking meets fly-on-the-wall gossip. I’ll set the stage so you know exactly who you’re about to fall for.THE DATE
First literary crushes, genre betrayals, formative reads, the weird habits. We’re going deep.THE LATE-NIGHT TEXTS
Are they a secret novelist? A recovering NaNoWriMo-er? A poet in the Notes app? This is where we get nosy about their writing life — what fuels them, what haunts them, and what they’re working on when they should be sleeping.THE FINAL SPREAD
The grand reveal: shelves, stacks, nightstands, nooks. It’s like getting into bed with someone and seeing the book they left on their bedside table. Vulnerable. Chaotic. Beautiful.
The vibe? A little Architectural Digest, a little Tumblr circa 2012, a little sleepover at your most bookish friend’s house. It’s equal parts reverent and ridiculous, because my love for books is both.
I’m launching the first Shelfie soon, and I’d love for you to be part of it. You can start by reading, and if you're feeling brave or just excited to share your shelves, don’t worry — there’s definitely a way to be featured in future editions (usually once per month).
💌 Want to show me your shelves (and your shelf-control issues)?
Hit reply and I’ll send you the form — it’s casual, fun, and only mildly existential. Pinky promise.
📣 Now tell me in the comments:
What’s the most revealing book on your shelf? (Emotionally or otherwise — I don’t judge. Much.)
If you enjoyed this issue, don’t forget to spread the word — the more, the merrier! I’d also love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to reach out. It helps keep this community growing and thriving.
If you’d like to support my writing, here are a few lovely ways to do it (thank you so, so much):
The most revealing books in my shelf… I might have to choose the big erotic collection I invested in buying when I was 18/19 😅 I had an hyper fixation and decided I wanted to read all the erotic classics. Probably because I just read 50 shades and thought it was so bad I needed to redeem myself in that field.
I can’t wait to read the first one! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
